I was appointed to the Fairplay Board of Trustees in June, 2013.  In April, 2018, I was elected to continue as a Trustee as well as given the honor to be the Mayor Pro Tem.
I believe this governmental experience has given me the skills and background to be an effective voice for you.  I am a fiscal conservative and, while on the Board of Trustees, have helped manage the Sanitation District resulting in decreased rates for residents and businesses, implemented the Property Improvement Incentive Program to rebate a portion of property taxes to owners for completing aesthetic building improvements, and adopted the Fairplay Comprehensive Plan which incorporated community values and public input to develop a vision for Fairplay's future.

I have volunteered at Independence Day celebrations, Burro Days and the Park County Fair with various organizations.  I have also served breakfast with the Jefferson Community Civic Association fundraiser for the past two years.

I have attended the Strategic Master Plan meetings in both Fairplay and Bailey where I learned about the unique concerns in each community.  Additionally, I have attended multiple Fair Board meetings, as well as the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) Work Sessions and Meetings.

  1. Traveling through Park County to Alma, Hartsel, Guffey, Lake George and Bailey to the "Commish with a Dish" meetings in 2017 and 2018 has been very enlightening.  Residents county-wide are concerned about their road quality and I will continue to make roads a budgeting priority.
  2. I am a strong supporter of personal property rights.  I believe a person should be able to do what they would like both on and with their property including the right of quiet enjoyment of their property, unless it causes a health hazard or becomes a danger to others. The county needs to enforce the applicable laws and ordinances so that owners are free to safely enjoy what is theirs.
  3. It is time to clarify and revise the Land Use Regulations (LURs) so they are well-defined and concise.  With better understanding for all involved, enforcement would be less ambiguous.  We live under enough rules and regulations; we do not need to pile on more.
  4. Maintaining the importance of quality water for current and future needs.

I love this county and I believe I can help find solutions and bring new ideas to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).  I have the knowledge and skills to apply to this position  and to successfully work with the BOCC when looking to the future and solving issues that will arise in Park County.

I am committed to serving ALL of Park County and will be responsive to your needs and desires, representing you, to keep Park County a great place to live.
